Sick leave
Unjustified sick leaves are on the rise – you as an employer, are without an employee or you must also arrange and pay for substitutions, and often the employee exploits the sick leave, he leaves the place of residence, he works illegally or even works for a competitive company.
According to the international comparison, Slovenia ranks really high in the scale of sickness absenteeism.
Absenteeism is not just the absence of the employee. It can also reduce production because you have to replace the missing employee with another one, who is not necessarily qualified to perform this work. Additional training can be very costly for you.
An unjustified sick leave is harmful to the whole company, because it gives a negative signal to other employees and creates a negative atmosphere within the team.
Checking of the sick leave is carried out at the place of residence. This is mainly preventive work, and its main purpose is to reduce the number of sick leaves of those, who are exploiting them, and along the way we determine whether the employee respects the hospice order and we also obtain other relevant information relating to the absence from work.
Control of the sick leave is much more complex. This is the operational work of the detective, where he determines what the person under surveillance is actually doing during sick leave. The findings are detailed in a report, and then on the basis of the evidence, the employer can decide on further procedure, which can be a reprimand or dismissal in cases of violation.
